Destiny Detour

In life we desire dreams, visions, goals and this is good. In life God has called each of us to a purpose in life.

God says to us in Ephesians, “For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), [a]recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live]. If we’re being honest sometimes we’ve created our own detours and had to close our eyes and hope for the best! Being that God is faithful He is committed to getting us on the right path.

God has called us to live the good life- the good life people! The good life requires good character, development and good management so with these requirements we will go through what I call “destiny detours” if we are in some way not quite ready to possess the land. Detours can be an inconvenience, they can even be confusing, uncomfortable and frustrating.

However, if we do not take the set detour we will not get to our destination. Just that simple. Think about what would happen if you just barreled through a detour sign on a closed street? Who knows what could be waiting on the other side! In order to prepare us for our destination God will use “detours” to mature us and make us ready for the life He has prepared for us. Here is what a destiny detour should yield:

1. A deeper walk with God

2. Improved character and love walk

3. Improved decision making/problem solving

4. Improved communication with others

5. Healthier emotions and responses

6. Refusing offense and living a lifestyle of honor

7. Authentic growth and authenticity

You may have even more than these, if you do please leave them on the app for others! Detours require us to keep going regardless of what is externally taking place in order to get us safely to the other side-which is a solid identity and understanding the good works you were created to carry out. So don’t get stuck at the detour sign, walk out the process so you can see the promotion.

I hope this encourages you to keep going and to embrace change believe me you cannot beat God when it comes to return on investment-graduation awaits!
